Start and taskbar

Click on it, hold down the button, drag it back just like you would an icon.
 
I have the same issue: The task bar magically moved to be verticle along the
right side of my screen, I want it on the bottom. It is unlocked and I get
the double arrow on the "checkered" bar just under the start button but can't
drag it. I can make it wider to the left (to about half screen) but not
shorter toward the bottom.

How do I get the task bar back to the bottom?

You don't want the double-arrow. That is for resizing.
You want to click, hold and drag nearer the center of the bar.

Wow, I was making it way more difficult than it actually was! I can't
believe I didn't accidently do this fix with all the messing around I have
been doing.

Thanks for the tip, all is right in the pc world now...
