START All Programs

Over time, I guess I have installed LOTS of programs and
things and in almost every instance, I've let the
installer choose where to put things. Now when I click
the Start button and go to Show All Programs, my screen
completely fills with an alphabetized list of installed
programs in three columns. The problem is, there is only
enough space to show up to the the letter S, so anything
beginning with T and beyond cannot be accessed this way.
There should be a way around this. 1) In order that I
can see all installed programs, can I change a setting
somewhere to make this list scroll, display a second
screen, or list four columns instead of only three? 2)
How is the best way to go about grouping like
applications under a common folder to create more room in
this list? I've tried do this manually on my own and
only made a mess of things in the past.

Right click Start button
Select Explore and/or Explore All Users.
Then open the Programs folder.
Create new subfolders then rearrange shortcuts.
OR
You can also configure your programs list to scroll which results in one large
column.
Right-click the Start button
Go to Properties
Click the Customize button.
Click the Advanced tab.
Scroll through the list until you see the item "Scroll Programs".
Check that and hit OK.

In addition to what Taurarian wrote, you can also shorten the name of the longest shortcut (right click | rename) which will reduce the width of the columns. You may need to do this on several shortcuts.

Another possibility is to change from 800x600 resolution to 1024x768 or higher. Right click on the desktop | properties | settings.
