I have added a new computer to my home network. It is running XP Home. The
modem is in a computer on another floor using Win 98SE. A third computer
runs Win 2000. When I start the XP computer it forces the server to dial
the internet. If I do not want to use the web I have to go upstairs and
disconnect. The Win 2000 computer does not do this. How can I turn the
auto-dial off?

Thx

I don't know if this will help but when XP comes up it has some programs in
the background that connect to the internet you Would have to disable them
in startup. Check your msconfig startup tab to see exactly what is starting.
Go to run and type msconfig and click ok will get you there. On the right
side of the startup window tells you where you would have to go to remove it
from startup. Let me know.
