Everywhere I look on the net, there seems to be a huge amount of hype about Starcraft 2... and it's just been released. However, there aren't any reviews that I can see yet. As soon as they appear I'll get some links posted :).

Is anyone here looking to get this game?

All I know is the game is several months late in being released from the original date given for release.

The original Starcraft was a very good game, I still have it but haven't played it in years.

There's an 'offer' here from Aria http://www.aria.co.uk/StarcraftII

So, Aria, let me get this right... I buy an overpriced, overheating noisy graphics card and for that I get a game demo?

Oh wow, that's a really good deal...

I will wait for some feedback and reviews on the game then if it looks to be any good I'll likely make a purchase :)

Haha, to be fair to Aria that's a global nVidia offer - but even so, a demo for buying a graphics card...?

It's a shame this game isn't available on Steam, as I can see they'd sell loads rather quickly that way.

I've not found any reviews yet, but I guess we'll be seeing some by the end of today.

The reviews ive read are applauding the game saying "it's gorgeous"

never even played the first so dunno

This from one member of the public at Play.Com:

For those who are old enough to know Starcraft 1, the number one real time strategy game of all times, the announcement of the release of Starcraft 2 almost brought tears to their eyes.
Like Doom for first action shooters, Starcraft defined its category with impeccable game-play and carefully balanced features, being the equivalent of Chess for PC gaming, in terms that it is a battle of the intellect, with fast accurate thinking being the primary element of success.

Practically a national sport in South Korea, its one of the very few games to have servers on the internet with so many players, despite the fact that its almost 15 years old. National championships with hundreds of spectators and sponsored "athletes" are not uncommon in South Korea.

Starcraft 2 lives up to its reputation, practically re-inventing graphics and effects to live up to today's standards (and keep the video card manufacturers happy), but keeps all the elements that made its predecessor a success.
Already on approximately its 20th balance revision on Beta testing, it iss guaranteed to give endless hours of fun for those who enjoy this category of gaming which made Blizzard what it is today.

An absolute benchmark in RTS gaming.

Which isn't very helpful, really.

Minimum system requirements:

Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7 (Latest Service Packs) with DirectX 9.0c
2.6 GHz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
128 MB PCIe NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card or better

Recommended system requirements:

Windows Vista/Windows 7
Dual Core 2.4 GHz Processor
2 GB RAM
512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon HD 3870 or better

Which means even my ageing system should handle it ok. Just about. :)

Well least I know Im covered with my 4200 X2 and 2gig with a 250GTS (which I managed to get for £25) ;)

Got it last weekend and I really really found the whole SC2 campaign entertaining, excellent cinematography and audio and the greatest real-time strategy game of all time. I may say all the sacrifices that made by not buying[mucks edit ... spam link removed, knew I should have banned you in my first instincts] for a month just to have the SC2 copy are all worth it.

Welcome to the forums noob11nuker :)

I've got Starcraft 2 ordered now and it should be here tomorrow... hopefully!

Got SCII through the post yesterday and played a few hours of it. It's really good fun so far - it's a typical strategy game with some interesting cutscenes, out-of-level decision making and research elements added. Lots of fun :D

I'm not so been on the battle.net feature though, as you need to sign in to the game with a password each time you play it!

Anyone else bought it?

I need a new game

Seriously thinking of buying it, although £35 is kinda putting me off as I really not got them funds to throw away on a game.

The "reviews" I've read are 95% positive, however, I never did finish C&C. :D
