Standy problem

My P4 1.7 system has worked pretty well the last 2 years. However,
recently, whenever I put the system into sleep mode (standy) the power light
flashes just like it is in sleep but when I 'wake' it, the system reboots.
I've checked all the settings and there have been no changes.
Where else can I look for the culprit?

Although I'm not absolutely positive of the connection, that happened
to me after downloading the October MS update. I tried reinstalling my
video drivers, which often takes care of standby problems but didn't
this time. Then I used system restore to go back a couple of days (to
the automatic save made at the time of the update) and the problem
went away.

I plan to try the update again in a week or so, specifically watching
to see if the update was the cause.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I've not been able to make this happen every
time but at least 75% of the time it does.
Interesting that I did the October update too. Wonder why.
