standby

windows resumes from standby anytime the phone is picked
up , why ,can i set it to not do this.

control panel \ system \ hardware \ device manager
Expand the modem area, right click your modem to bring up the
properties. In the power management area, clear "allow this device to
bring the computer out of standby".
Apply and okay your way out.
Reboot.
