Hello,

I'm having trouble putting my XP Pro system into standby mode. Whenever
I try I receieve a "ATI WDM TV" driver is preventing your machine from
entering standby mode" error message.

I had this working perfectly up until a week ago when I had to wipe my
harddrive, and reinstall (not related to the worm). Does anyone know of
any kind of a solution for this?

Ati and Microsoft bascially point fingers at each other and say to
upgrade to the latest drivers. I'm running the latest wdm capture
drivers and the latest catalyst driver. I'm very close to getting rid
of this card and going nvidia because I've had nothing but driver
problems ever since I bought the card.

Thanks,

Charlie

FIXED IT!!!

Geeze that was a pain in the butt. It ends up that it was a utility
that came packaged with my motherboard (MSI KT333). If anyone else is
having this problem with an MSI motherboard, make sure you don't have
the MSI Live Monitor turned OFF.

I'm so glad I fixed this, if I had to read one more....uhhhhh well ACPI
standby is only inteded for laptops, or don't use it just have it turn
ur monitor and harddrive off I was going to puke. People just assume
things aren't "supported." I NEED standby to work because my computer
fan is kind of loud and when I put it in standby it is effectly off (no
sound). Sorry i'm rambling just happy I fixed this, hopefully this hint
can save someone else some time in the future.

A better option would be not to install that app in the first place.
Keep your system clean by not loading useless crap on startup and you
won't have any problems usually. Lots of problems on peoples PC's are
caused by all the little apps that get loaded on bootup.

So true, Gnasher. patrickp
