Hello evreybody.

I have programmed my computer to go from Standby (or anything else) to
Hibernate on Low battery (which I have set to 25%).

This never work when the computer is in Standby mode.

The computer stays in standby mode until the battery is empty.

Is it normal ? Is it a Vista problem ? Is there anything I missed ?

Thank you for advance for your answers.

Sincerely.

If this is a Vista, there is no 'standby' mode.
There are sleep, hybrid sleep, and hibernate. (my Vista home premium)

Assuming that your Standby is Vista's sleep:
If you have the laptop plugged in when you put it to sleep, then the 'AC
power options' apply. Check that you have also selected the low battery
options you want are also in the 'plugged in' selections. This applies if
you place in sleep, then unplug the laptop. Try unplug, then place in sleep.

Also I have read that some laptops simply cannot detect a change in battery
status when in a low power mode. (pretty bad design). If that is your case
then a check to see if a BIOS update is available for your machine might be
in order.

I am of the OPINION that it is better to hibernate a laptop, the slightly
longer startup time seems to me to be OK compared to possibility of draining
my battery. I have mine set to shutdown if the power button is pressed,
hibernate if the lid is closed.
