I was forced to reinstall XP pro (quick format of drive
C) . When I did, the power scheems standy, sleep,
hybernate, failed to show up in the reinstallation. They
worked fine on the previous installation and still did on
my D drive which I used for back up purposes.

Does anyone know what settings I need to change?

Thanks

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your video card,
search for Windows XP drivers, download and install them. Once
this is accomplished, the Standby button will become enabled.

If you have a notebook PC, then visit the notebook manufacturer's
support website and download the Windows XP video adapter drivers.
