Does anyone know how to disable the standby mode. If I leave my computer
for more than 20mins (i think) it switches itself into a standby mode. This
is becomming quite annoying as I like to leave my computer on to download
things.

I have looked everywhere and I cant seem to find a setting for it anywhere.
Can anybody help?

Thanks

Dave

looked everywhere...hhmm...did you try Help and Support right in your own
PC...type in "standby"...read what it says...reading is good...then do some
searches here in the newsgroup...then some GOOGLE searches on the web...then
maybe, just maybe...can can say you tried everything....OK...

Mel I think you may want to lose the attitude. I think you may want to
check your facts before you start having a go at people.

If I hadnt checked those do you think I would really be on here asking how
to stop it from going into standby.
I've checked the help and through this forum and I cant find anything of
help. My Power Options is set to 'Always On' and all of the options under
there are set to 'Never'. I have checked my user settings and everything I
can find in the control panel but still no luck. I have also searched on
Google and all that suggests is to check my Power Options!!!!

Check your BIOS settings. You want power management enabled here but you
don't want any time limits set that might override your preferences in
Power Options.

Thanks for your replies but i've still had no luck.

I have check my BIOS and all power saving features are disabled so there is
nothing in there which would do it. I have also searched through Google and
various other sites trying to find registry tweeks or system settings I can
change but most of them just refer to the Power Options.

Anyone else got any more ideas?

Dave

Only suggestion I have is set the time before standby to as long as possible.
