standby mode not working

my standby mode is not working. when i click on the star button / turn off computer, only 'turn off' and 'restart' are active, not 'standby'. i wonder if this indicates a serious issue and how to solve thi
(eg.
- is this because of settings related to my antiviruses (norton and ad-aware)
- does this means i have a virus?...

The Standby button will become available once the correct video
card/adapter drivers are installed. It will appear when you click
Start > Turn Off Computer...

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your video card or
video card adapter, search for the latest Windows XP compatible
drivers, download and install them.

If you have a notebook computer, visit the website of the manufacturer
of your notebook computer to obtain the video adapter drivers.

Then right-click on your Desktop and select:
Properties > Setting and adjust your Screen Resolution
settings, then select "Highest (32 bit) Color Quality setting,
and click "apply".
