Has anyone see where the Stand by option is disabled and cannot be used? How
does one enable that functionality> I had to restore my PC from restore CDs
and it has been this way ever since. I would be ever thankful if someone
knew how and could share.

This mostly cause because of no Display Driver installed on your System.
Especially after using the Recovery CDs. What you need is your Motherboard /
Display Card CD to reinstall your the Drivers.

If you want to make sure that this could be the exact cause of issue then
Right-click on Desktop and choose Properties. Click the Settings tab. Read
your display adapter name here. E.g.

Display:
Plug and Play Monitor on VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP

In your case, it could be Unknow / Standard or no name. You can also check
Device Manager for Display Drivers by right-clicking on My Computer - choose
Properties - click Hardware tab and then Device Manager (Window Key+Pause
Break is shortcut to System properties)

Let us know!

Add SHOW / HIDE Recycle Bin option in "Folder Options". Learn how to at:

I belive Standby has to do with the "power saving" functions of the
computer, and of XP. So first I think you need to turn on the Advance Power
Management (APM) in the BIOS; then in the Power options, you can enable the
standby functions.
