I have Windows XP SP2. When turning off the computer I am unable to use the
Stand by link as it is faded. The Turn off and Restart links are OK.
Yesterday and before the Stand by link was also OK, somehow today it's no
go. Could someone please advise how to get it going again.

Hi Killian,

Greyed out Standby button is usually indicative of a video driver problem.
Reinstall or update your video driver and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks for the advise everyone. All is OK again. I suspect it was related
to my NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX400(HP). It seems that an update was required.
