hello:

Trying to make a chart with stacked columns for costs by year and a
line representing volume by year.

For example, I'll have COGS, Freight, and Marketing stacked in a
column for 1999, 2000, and 2001. Then I want to have a line
illustrating volume above the stacked columns for the same years and
it's values on the 2nd (right) Y-axis.

From what I've read in previous postings, I make my stacked column
with COGS, Freight, Marketing AND volume, then right-click on the
volume series, select chart type and change it to line. However, when
I do this the entire chart changes to a line chart.

any tips? I'm using XL 02.

thanks!

ahhh! think I found out the problem....can't add line when the stacked
column is 3-D....changed to 2-D and line worked

Thanks for this Pablo, I was trying to make a 3-D stacked column char
with 3 data series (Profit, revenue, and expenses) stacked in on
column, each column representing one year, and on the same chart plo
two line data series over the top of the columns. I'm using exce
2000 (unfortunately), but thanks to your post I can at least settle fo
a 2-D stacked column allowing this
