I need a freeware _universal_ video player that supports subtitles &
most of the formats and codecs.

Just found this great player BSPlayer, http://www.bsplayer.org/.
Handles DivX, apparently (though I'm not sure exactly what all the
terms means, myself).

:) I was asking because I have CrystalPlayer. It's fine, but tooo
unstable! On my machine it crashes at least few times during the movie.
But, thank you for the effort, & all the other on the group;)

_Very nice_ player! It managed to start a movie that only CrystalPlayer
could!!! But I have a problem with subtitles; when I try to load it I
get a message something like I have to change the "video rendere type"
and reopen it. Since Englesh is not my first language I don't
understand exactly what does this mean. What should I do to fix the
problem?

You should be able to use the Navigate menu to change subtitles. I haven't
used the subtitle feature before.

I'm partial to 1337 player -- small, free, supports most codecs -- made by
the same as CoolPlayer. Requires Direct-x 9 to use, however . . .
