interfaces are also available for Linux from Sun and others. It takes time to
set up a Linux distro but once up and running, you don't need to care
anymore; latest Linux even self-update over the Web. Windows XP used to be
easy to set up, but would then cause problems once up and running. With
Vista, it's complex to set up (e.g., bluetooth, extra video and audio codecs,
etc.) and once up and running problems continue. You might even lose your
documents in Office 2007 running under Vista when moving them between
different machines (on a USB drive), because of the "new file system
security" features.

Yes, you do get what you pay for. You can either pay hand over fist of
your hard earned cash out your arse for MS buggy, insecure DRM ware, or
you can get quality from FOSS media centres like the ones above. I use
MythTV here at home and it works like a dream.
