Tomorrow is St.George's Day.:thumb:

It's sad that here in England no-one makes much of our Saints Day, whereas in Scotland, Wales and Ireland they seem to really go to town over theirs. :(

Aye, I've often wondered why everybody gets legless on St Patricks Day and yet is barely aware of St George's Day.

One of my locals is actually having a St George's themed evening with free English food, pie & mash, jellied eels, that kinda thing.

I'll probably go but pass on the jellied eels... ;)

Happy St. George's Day
...Cry God for Harry, England and St. George!

 :D

Here's some useless info.

St George is not only patron saint of England but has important connections to Greece, Moscow and Ethiopia all of which have flags or coats of arms showing George, on horseback, slaying the dragon.

The cross of St. George also features in Aragon, Catalonia, Genoa, Malta and Georgia.

The George and Dragon is also a popular pub name.

Told you it was useless. ;)

Careful with that sword Taffy, you'll have somebody's eye out you ain't careful... :D

Our local Sainsburys has loads of paintings from school kids about St Georges Day, so there's a bit of recogition this year :)

Never heard of it... welll time to celebrate! :D

I believe St George was brought to England via the first Crusaders, and it was they that started the veneration of St George. In fact they wore his emblem,a red cross on a white ground,on their tunics when they went into battle.
