ssl for smart device application

I write a smart device application that connects to xml web service
with login_name and password and some db operations is performed. I
want security for this point with ssl. But I can not find any sample
code. Please , if you have, send me..

There is one commercial product that I know of. However, it's kind of
expensive if you do not use SSL frequently in the applications that you
author.
