SSI not including!

I have used the right code and all is uploaded. I use things like
<!--#include virtual="/includes/main_nav.htm"--> but it doesn't work. My site
is at tu.windtemple.net/template.shtml
 
The include page is not on the server at
http://tu.windtemple.net/includes/main_nav.htm
A virtual include of "/includes/main_nav.htm" means relative to the root http://tu.windtemple.net include the page in the location
folder /includes and file name main_nav.htm
