ssdp discovery service

when I load XP the SSDP Discovery Service will not quit
loading. This prevents the other startup items from
starting and locks the taskbar from the Window Key and the
mouse. If I run select startup (pc config)and ignore the
SSDP line, everything loads ok. I have reloaded and run
the repair from the set up to no avail. How can I repair
this situation?

SSDP is not used on most machines so you may try without it. Disable
SSDP in the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
