squashed columns

Apologies if this has been asked before. One of my users occasionally has a
problem where the columns in her spreadsheet appear all "squashed up" when
she opens the file. She is using Office 97 SR-2.

Any ideas why this is happening?

~Paul.

Did she or any one else save the file with a zoom factor (far) less then
100% ?

No. She will occasionally set the page zoom to 75%, but always saves it as
100%.

Sorry Paul, I've got no idea what's happening then, unless (but I suppose
she would know that) there is a before close macro in the workbook which
(under certain conditions) does this.

But as I said : I suppose she would know this and (if security is high
enough) she would be warned about the macro's every time she opens the file.

No, there are no marcos running. It's a very simple, straightforward
spreadsheet. I have logged this with Microsoft but they cannot find an
explanation for this although I have read about this squashed columns issue
before in an Internet forum, however I cannot remember where!

There is one common factor with the people that have had this problem - they
are all using a finanical analysis Excel add-in called ESSBase from Hyperion
Software. However Hyperion's support people say that it is not an issue
with their product.

Thanks for your help anyway.

~Paul.

Not any solution, but there have been lots of posts complaining that sometimes
xl97 won't keep the columnwidths between closing and reopening.

One suggestion is to make sure that you're running xl97SR2. (but you say you
already are.)

I've never seen a reply that was the solution to all these questions.
