What is the SQL thing which loads in the tray at startup and says "Not Connected"? Is it something
that can be unchecked in the MSConfig/Startup window?
Thanks,

Are you sure it's a "SQL thing" and not the Networking icon?

If you right click on My Network Places, select Properties....right click on
the Network Connections (each in order) and uncheck the boxes at the bottom,
does it still appear?

Possibly right-click or double click it to get some details on the process.

Thanks, guys. I believe the program was setup by Sony on their brand computer. Anyway, in the
Add/Remove I see "Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (VAIO-VEDB)". In opening the program I have no
Server listed...has nothing to do with my cable Internet ISP connection that I can tell. Mouse over
the tray icon and says, "Not connected". Must be something I don't need.

This tool may also help.

Thanks, Dave. Read the link info. I can see no need for SQL for a po ol country boy. Uninstalled it
and everything working normally.
