Hi

Is possible from a "win form" application to create an alias like the "SQL
client network utility" does.

TIA

The cliconfg.exe creates an entry in the registry under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo

For a connection called "test", it creates a Key called "Test", with a
REG_SZ value of "DBNMPNTW,\\test\pipe\sql\query" for a named pipe connection
and for a connection called "test1" with a TCPIP protocol, "DBMSSOCN,test1"

If you can create the registry key and have sufficient permissions on the
target computer, you can do it.
