In an attempt to upgrade from Windows NT 4 server and SQL
6.5 to W2K (Windows 2000) server & SQL 2K, we want to
first upgrade the server by doing a backup and clean
install of the server software & restoring data to it.
Then, our SQL gurus said we should install SQL 6.5 on the
W2K server. Then load the application, and only then
should we upgrade from SQL 6.5 to SQL 2K. Can we do
this? I was unsuccessful in my first attempt to install
SQL 6.5 on the W2K server - I got a non-compatibility
message, but I thought it only referred to Back Office,
which we won't really be using. Thanks for any help.
