We have a Win2000 server with SQL 2000 Ent. Edition.
Does anyone know if it must be re-installed when
changing the TS from Remote admin to Application mode?
I understand certain software does but I need to be certain with SQL Server.
Thanks.

The main reason for (re)installing software when switching
to application mode is because some files may be needed by
users to run the applications correctly. Sometimes this
is true and sometimes not. My primary thought is that SQL
Server is a service, and therefore users shouldn't need
SQL files in their home drives but only need to be able to
access the service through the system. In this case, you
could probably get away with not reinstalling it in
applications mode. However, these opinions may not be
true, since I haven't done this exact operation. If
possible, could you clone the server, and then try moving
to application mode and see what happens? If it fails,
then you haven't lost anything.
