Somehow malware called SpywareQuake has installed itself on my system and I
am extremely annoyed with it. Windows defender nor McAfee VirusScan can do
anything about it (discover/rid) and am wondering whether others have had the
same problem with it. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks

No, I do not download music, so it would be unlikely associated with that. I
appreciate the response - I submitted comment threatening notifying the FCC
and the FBI on the website unless they provided uninstall instructions freely
on the website, but we all know what that means ... nothing!

I will report as suggested and follow others' (see thread) suggestions as
well. I appreciate the help.

Thanks for the help - the destructions in the removal guide seems to have
worked - thus far!

They were very clear and concise destructions - I appreciate them a lot!
One point though - and it's not entirely clear to me exactly why, but perhaps
others may run into the same problem, so I'll mention them here.

I was unable to remove SpywareQuake in step 11 (Control Panel--Remove
Programs) simply because it was not there. Don't know why, but it wasn't.
Previously the malware kept reinstalling itself after a period of time after
booting and I would either use control panel-add/remove programs to remove it
or use the "uninstall" option in the Start Menu-Programs-SpywareQuake
"expando box."

I might add that originally the malware would keep reinstalling itself with
that PITA warning popup in the system tray, (bottom right, and in the
quick-launch area as well) regardless of how many times I removed it.

I was unable to generate the information to report to Microsoft IAW the note
from Engel because I could not locate files to bundle in a zip file to
forward to be able to report it. I am hopeful that someone with more savvy
than me will take this challenge on so the rotten money-grubbing b*stards
from SpywareQuake get the come-uppins they deserve. We should bring back
public hangings just for cases like this!

Anyway, thanks a bunch - everyone's help is sincerely appreciated!
Regards,
Bill
