I'm not entirely certain I follow but where's it saying that?

The first line of every page you visit? In the top of your browser where it
says who's browser or the likes???

(It sounds like someone was busy playing a joke more than spyware.)

You can check the registry for the IE values and you can also look in IE,
tools, options, accessibility settings, and see if there has been a user
style sheet set to be used instead of letting the sites use their own.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose default
install is loaded with malware. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along.

Yup, it's probably not spyware. I suspect it's either been added to your
registry and it is in the title bar (first line of browser) which would be
simplest for someone wanting to play a joke. The other option is a style
sheet. Open IE, click on tools, click on options, and at the appearance
section click on accessibility... If there's a check in there to use a style
sheet disable it.

I think you are talking about the title bar in IE - the top blue line above
File...Edit...View, etc., correct? The line that is supposed to show the
title of the web page, followed by " - Microsoft Internet Explorer",
correct?

If so, then something has got into the registry and changed that.

How to Change the Internet Explorer Window Title

If you are not comfortable editing the registry -

Try this:

To remove all Internet Explorer branding, follow these steps after closing
IE:
1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type

rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear

and then click OK.

4. Restart Internet Explorer
