If you have spyware that redirects you when you try to go to a web page, how can you work around that to be able to get into your router or gateway to actually establish a connection?

I have a modem that acts as both a router and a modem. I have spyware on my pc, and have disabled all of it in the startup menu (msconfig), but still cannot use my browser to login to the modem to actually connect. I know I need something like ad-aware or spybot, but I can't connect to the internet to get it.

Does anyone know of a work-around to the redirectors that will not allow you to get to the page you are trying to access?

The problem is that I can't get into the modem to logon and get on the internet to download these programs. I can't get into the router/gateway IP address of 192.168.0.1, the browser keeps trying to dedirect it to a different site.

Let's try this:

Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab

Delete all cookies
Delete all temporary internet files
(include all offline content)
Remove all Downloaded Program Files
To do that, you click on that "settings"
button and then click on the "View Objects"
button and then right click and choose remove
for all of them, if any, one at a time.
Some of them may not remove. Don't worry about that.
Close the Downloaded Program Files window,
Click OK to the Settings window.
Now clear History

Now click on the "Advanced" tab at the top
of Internet Options.
In the Browsing section, uncheck the box for
"Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)"
Click "Apply" and then "OK" at the bottom
of Internet Options
Close out of Control Panel

Restart the computer

Browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Find the file named "hosts" and right click on it
select "Rename" and then rename it to "hosts.old"

Now see if you can download one or both of these Anti Spyware
programs and install them, update them and scan your system
and delete any spywares that may be found. If you have a
working Anti Virus program, then update it and scan with it,
otherwise use one of these free online virus scanners:

(If you still cannot download either Ad-Aware or Spybot
from your computer, then maybe you can do so from a friend's
computer and burn the executable file to CDR and then install
it on your computer from that CDR)
