Hello everyone,
I have recently had viruses including spyware removed from my computer.
I have Norton autoupdate & a firewall installed.
Should I change u/names & passwords to be safe?
Cliff.

If code gets into your computer that can send passwords back to whoever, it
doesn't matter if you change them or not..

Obviously, it is not a bad idea to change passwords occasionally.. try not
to make them so simple.. I always use words from languages other than my
own.. there are over 6000 languages in use, some only spoken unfortunately,
so the scope for uncommon passwords is extensive to say the least..

Re. protection of your system, Norton AV and a firewall is not enough..
download and run the following programs.. run them weekly, and always
remember to update them before running..

Adaware SE Personal.. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
SpyBot S&D.. http://www.safer-networking.org/
SpywareBlaster.. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Hi Mike:

Will these applications run and detect spyare on X64 machines? I have two
viruss that were detected using Microsoft security site, but can't be
removed. Just wondering?

They should. X64 machines are still able to run the 32bit code base, so
these apps should work. It will be interesting, as we move from 32bit to
64bit, how the anti-spyware apps will have to adapt to accommodate to
the changes in spyware. With the extra address space, you can almost
guarantee that spyware will become more advanced than ever.
