A question for anyone from someone not well versed in computer language.

I just installed microsoft anti Spyware. Every once in a while a popup comes
up that says that the system has blocked an attempt to have my url changed
from an address to another address. The problem is that both listed addresses
are the same, and they appear to be that of a known spyware address (dr srch
or something like this.) Has this spyware already commandeered my url and is
it fooling the anti spyware?

Thanks in advance

Hi cello1;

Unfortunately, you don't provide enough information to really answer that
question, but you could have spyware present. It sounds like something is
trying to hijack (change without your permission) your browser settings and MSAS
Real Time Protection is preventing a change... even if it already was changed to
something you didn't intend before MSAS was installed, active protection will
prevent another change.

So, if you haven't already, you need to run a MSAS scan:
1. Update your definition signatures to current via File > Check for updates.
2. Set Scan Options, check memory, all your hard disk drives (not CD/DVD
drives), and deep scan folders.
2. Run a scan.
3. Let us know if anything is reported or quarantined or removed in the scan
report.

You should also tell us what operating system you use (like XP/SP2), if you ran
an Anti-Virus scan recently, are your Microsoft Security Updates current, do you
use a firewall, and what the exact message being reported is, along with the
exact URL that's being reported.

Learn the copy and paste technique... Highlight the URL - as an example, then
right click select copy, then position your cursor in your message back to us
and right click select paste. That way no typing is involved in getting the URL
included in your forum post.
