Every night since I've installed Microsoft AntiSpyware my
computer has crashed overnight. Until today I didn't know
why because I couldn't see what was on the screen at the
time of the crash. In the morning I would turn the monitor
on and using the keyboard or mouse wouldn't "activate" the
video like it usually does. I would have to hard reboot
the computer. Well I turned off the Power Management
function which turns off the Monitor after an hour of idle
time and now I see what was the last thing running before
the crash.
It was Microsoft's AntiSpyware schedule scan. And the last
file it was scanning before the crash was a file
called "cinemst2.sys". There is something strange about
that file for sure. Notepad won't open the file to look at
it. The operating system seems to have it exclusively
locked. Notepad takes a good 10 seconds before giving an
error message. This file is located in the %Windir%
\system32\drivers directory and appears to be a decoder
file from my Google searches on the internet.
If there is a way to tell AntiSpyware NOT to scan that
file then I will be able to continue using this product.
Otherwise I will have to abandon it. (or at least turn off
overnight Scheduled Scans).
