Does anyone know of a spyware remove program that can be run from a disk,
without being installed on the computer? My brother accidentally removed
Zone Alarm (he thought he was just removing the Pro trial version). Now his
computer is so full of junk I can't keep it stable long enough to clean it
out.

He's running Windows 98, so I need something that will work with that.

Many thanks for any advice anyone can send.

Stinger for AV: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

X-Cleaner for malware: http://www.xblock.com/download-freeware.shtml

Those two should help with the big chunks.

If you know what you are doing and what to look for, you could also try

" I can't keep it stable long enough to clean it out."

My suggestion, turn off the modem/disc the cable whatever after you've d/l
the above programs.

Do it from safe mode.

Thank you for the suggestion, but it looks like that one requires
higher than Windows 98. It looks like a good thing to keep in mind
for my own computer though, so I'm definitely bookmarking the page!

It is made using XP, but once you build it, you can boo from it on any
Windows PC and run the spyware and antivirus stuff on it...
