No Spyware program seems to catch all of the offenders.

While I'm not sure if running more than one, as a monitor,
will cause any conflicts, scans by various programs are
probably a good idea.

Yes. I also have MS AntiSpyware and SpywareBlaster.

NEVER download files from anywhere unless it is from the website of the
developer, manufacturer or some entity that you trust. They ALWAYS have the
most up to date files that haven't been tampered with by some third party
who is "hosting" (read Leeching) those files without permission.

Actually, it depends on your browsing practices. If you visit some
"special" websites, you may need to install three-four different
antispy programs that will work complemenarily.

Have in mind that Microsoft Antispy is a very weak antispy protection,
it does not detect many of the planted bugs.

AdAware and Spybot are noticeably better.

As Vlad mentioned in his reply, it probably depends on your surfing
habits. But, rather be safe than sorry!

I use AdAware, Spybot, Spywareblaster as well as CWShredder which
seems to keep those nice folks from Coolwebsearch at bay. If you ever
get an about.blank page for your home page and you can't get rid of
it, try CWShredder.

The best option for not getting spyware and other nasties on your PC
is probably to use Firefox as a browser. Just my personal opinion but
it works for me.

For anti-virus try Grisoft's AVG Free. What I like best about it is
that it's free.
