Hi ... I'm curious to know which spyware programs will work with build 5384
of Vista ? Does ad aware, spybot and any other program work ? Thanks

Ihavent tried any spyware programs on Vista other than Windows Defender
(included with Vista)..

Have you visited the anti-spyware vendors' sites to see what they say with
regard to Vista Beta 2?

Is it a habit of your to answer a question with a question ?
Oh wait, You will just provide another question, don't bother

Yes it is my habit to use questioning to encourage folks to think through
issues and as a means to point out that the research for the answer to the
poster's question is ready to hand.

With Windows Vista you don't need an antispyware because in Vista you use a
Least-Privileged User Account, UAC and because the new security architecture.
So it's pretty difficult you'll get a spyware in Vista.

Let us know how your computer fares Bill, after running it for a while
without 3rd party protection.
dotcom

Bill is actually correct. Windows Defender and the new user account
restrictions do pretty much eliminate the classic spyware, which is what
adaware and others are doing anyway.

While UAC and Defender should protect you reasonably well (especially UAC
unless you just always click allow without actually paying attention to what
you are allowing), Spybot does work well with build 5384. It is the only 3rd
party spyware protection that I am using so far. Though UAC has blocked
everything so far.

Wow well I have Ad- aware from Lavasoft and it detects more spyware on my
Windows Vista machine than my xp. I think even you have the anti-pishing, and
defender, and pop-blocker and even the UAC, Vista seems to me that is less
secure than Xp, try for yourself and see how much spyware and files :
ad-aware find in a Windows Vista pc , more than xp

The danger is that AdAware is detecting false positives (legitimate Vista
files that AdAware is judging spyware when they aren't). Proceed file by
file before deleting or quarantining.

Are you dual booting with XP? Is the spyware found on the XP partition or
the Vista partition? How much of what was found is cookies or registry
entries that are different from XP so flagged as suspicious?

Well tbh, I used spybot search and destroy, very good from my POV, and two
"bad" cookies were found lol. not a lot at all tbh.
