I just download on another computer the spyware program from microsoft and
had it delete spywary that it found. Now I can not get on the internet from
that computer. I also used Ad-Aware and it did the same thing. It is on a
small network and it the only one that can not access the internet. Please
can someone give me some help. Thank you

I had this problem when I used Ad-aware. If you delete/quarantine all the
files that it suggests that is spyware you can run into this problem of not
being able to connect to the internet afterwards. You can restore the files
if you quarantined them but then you'll be back to square one. If you're
looking for an anti-spyware program that works, you might want to try pest
patrol.

Hi K :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

LPS-FIX

http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

and ........

WinsockXP Fix for XP
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
Also, with instructions, at
http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/winfix.shtm
or

Winsock Fix Utility
http://www.dfwonline.net/files/WinsockFix.zip

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

You removed the spyware, but they left behind damaged
Winsock keys in the Registry -

The spywares use Layered Service Providers (LSP),
small pieces of software that can be added or inserted into the
Winsocks. Data outward bound from your computer to a legitimate
destination on the Internet can be intercepted by an LSP and sent
somewhere other than where you intend it to go.

Removing spyware is a good thing, BUT you need
to be prepared to rebuild the Winsock keys if needed -

(It just never ends, does it?)

I advise you to follow the advice in the following link:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/winsock.htm

Something has gone awfully wrong with the installation, perhaps.
Choose a Restore Point at which you installed Microsoft AntiSpyware.
