Last night I tried free spykiller.com and after it was done I decided I
didn't want it. I removed it via add/delete control panel.
Guess what? This morning when I turned on my computer it came up in my
system tray and I still have it. I went to explorer and found it left a
folder with the program there etc.. I don't want to harm my system but is it
just a matter of deleting that folder and it goes away?
Advice appreciated.
Dan

Many programs leave hidden keys within the registry that
are not removed when removing the program which in effect
leaves tracks for the program to follow or even after a
given period of time to reinstall itself. I find it best
to go into the registry and manually delete the keys and
entries for the programs. go>start\run\regedit and then
click ok or hit enter on your keyboard. Now click edit(at
the top) then find and type in the name of the program and
then click find. Now if a key(looks like a folder on the
left) then just right click on it and click delete. If it
is a value(right panel) then right click and click delete.
Now hit f3 on your keyboard and it will look for the next
entry. You man have to do this many many times to get all
the keys and values entered in the registry. Be sure of
what you delete here. Deleteing the wrong thing in the
registry can result in a useless system. You can always
right click and then choose export to send the key to
your "my documents" folder and then delete it. If after a
couple of days you find no harm to your OS then you can
delete it. If on the other hand you find this does
something odd to your system you can then merge it back
into the registry by double clicking it and following the
prompts. Keep smiling.
