I am novice user and I d/ld Spybot some time ago and had no problems. Jan
1st I asked for updates and it showed on a panel I had some. Clicked on d/l
and system just hung. After 3 minutes I gave up, removed program and then
directory and d/ld again. Same exercise in 'futility' so I have completely
removed. Trusting all to Adaware now which updates and does its thing.
Generally do not have Adaware pickup anything if I run Window Washer 5
first. That seems to remove all cookies etc..

Can't believe that I am only one having problem with Spybot although I read
where others are having problems but do not understand what people are
purposing as solution. I have cable as my ISP with Windows XP Home.

*** My Husband just tried to update his Spybot files as well, on a W98SE and
it's locked up! Not the PC, the Spybot program. We've never had this
happen before.
Worse yet, we can't even FIND this crap-ware called Secret-Crush on my
PC,... with all files, folders and file extensions showing. :-( Even the
SEARCH can't locate it. It loads into memory when the PC starts so Spybot
can't remove it.

Trusting all to Adaware now which updates and does its thing.

*** We haven't much faith in AdAware. It's good for tracker cookies but
that's about all. Spybot was the one to find all the other garbage.

*** There may not be a workable solution...... I'm dying to install EZCD
Creator on this PC but it wont work with XP. I despise the crap burner
program called Music Match Jukebox that came with it.

The default site is in Europe. In the update window select a mirror site in the U.S.
This should complete the task - at least it did with me when it was happening to me.

1) If Spybot finds something it cannot delete you will be given the
option to have it run upon next restart so it can remove all offending files
before they have a chance to load. This *always* works (at least it has for
me thus far)

2) Music Match Jukebox doesn't come with XP - it will have been
preinstalled by your system manufacturer - it's not a Microsoft application.

3) Only Easy CD Creator versions 5.02 (i.e. version 5 with the
downloadable patches installed) and 6 will run under XP; earlier versions
are *not* compatible.

## Yes, and we rebooted and got the SAME message about it being in memory
and Spybot still couldn't remove it. So it evidently loaded BEFORE Spybot
loaded. We know it's still somewhere on my PC but the folders Spybot says
they're in do not exist. And YES, we have all hidden files, folders and
file extensions showing. The FIND program can't find them either. But then
it's so much crappier than the FIND on W98, which is fast and always finds
what we're looking for. The new improved version on XP is slow, ponderous
and can't find anything - very disappointing!

## Yes, I know that. It's cheap crap-ware HP installed, but EZCD will not
run on XP.

## Tell me about it...... :(

It appered that spybot "hung" because their are
thousands of people connecting to the server at one time
spybot is very poplar, it is a server problem and not the
programs,I click d/l and yes it took awhile but it did d/l

I made the original complaint and this morning 01/05 I went online to spybot
site and re d/ld program. I had wiped out the old directory etc.. I executed
the d/l and that worked fine as it had in previous tries. I then closed out
program and went to internet and d/ld the updates. That also worked fine
(previously I had tried from within program). As far as I can tell I am back
in business & will in future get my updates from their site rather than
trying within program.

Ours finally downloaded too. :-)

Have you tried running McAfee online scan or TrendMicro online scan? Granted
you're not looking for a virus, but when I used Trend Micro, it picked up
some spyware on my PC.
