Hi Randy (and others),
I promised my adult kids and all the rest of my nieces, nephews, siblings,
etc, -- on whose PCs I've installed SpyBot -- that I would finally get
around to asking this question regarding SpyBot.
Why, when the real-time protection, dialog window appears -- let's say
regarding a user-required action to either allow or deny something -- is the
window sized so what it's asking is not readable? It's all compressed and
one can't actually read what SpyBot is asking to allow or deny?
I hope I'm adequately describing what I'm wondering about. Thanks

Alan, i don't use Spybot's real-time protection (tea timer) found it slowed
me down to much. I just use Defender's real time protection and real time
from AVG av. I just use Spybot as an on-demand scanner.

Alan, I too do not use SpyBot's "real-time" protection, aka Tea Timer.
I only use the program as an on-demand scanner.
Ask the experts at the SpyBot Forums or, read the FAQ at the top
of the site. I hope this helps.

If you set it to also download beta files, there is a fix for the well known
bug of teatimer display.
Spybot, advanced mode, settings tab, settings, web update section, check
display available beta versions. You'll get teatimer 1.5beta, amongst other
beta updates. These are quite stable.

I JUST downloaded and installed the "patch.exe" file, before reading your
reply. However, I do have a backup of the original 'TeaTimer.exe" file.
Do you think I'm better off using the beta update rather than the
"patch.exe" file?

Yes, the TeaTimer 1.5.0.6 Beta is so stable that Patrick may release it this
Wednesday. It has several improvements as well as fixing the bug, including
better operation on Windows Vista.
The other parts of the 1.5 Beta have yet to go into public beta, but are
receiving even more radical changes. For example, the Scanner and Updater
portions will be broken out into separate modules, partially for Vista
(Internet access security) and also to simplify and reduce resources for
older OS versions. This will also allow the program to start without kicking
off a UAC prompt in Vista.
The Advanced Check Library slow scanning bug and fix a few weeks ago was
also part of the update, though it already works with 1.4, as this portion is
effectively the 'engine' in Spybot S&D.
This is the first major rewrite in almost two years and the most
comprehensive since version 1.3, three years ago.
