If this has happened once it;s happened 20 times (and on multiple
computers): an attempt is made to update the detection rules for Spybot
Search & Destroy but is unscuccessful due to"!!bad checksum!"

I'm amazed that the creator of this application hasn't fixed this kink
in the couple of years I've been using the program.

Yes SS&D is free BUT its developer asks for donations -- IMHO at the
least he in turn should be providing a program in which major, chronic
issues such as this have been fixed.

This is the ONLY program I use in which checksum errors are a chronic,
recurring problem.

If it has been asked once, it's been asked 20 times here, and the answer
is always to switch to one of the other mirrors. "Safer Networking #2"
always works.

But yes, I agree the people running the mirror service should take the
necessary steps to fix it. Don't blame SS&D, though.

No matter, I find that if I simply select "Safer Networking:Europe", it
has never missed for me, where many of the others are iffy.

Try Safer 1-2 or 3 and see if it helps.

I had trouble with several Spybot S&D mirrors a couple of days ago.
It seems every time I download new updates from Spybot, there are different
locations. Occasionally there is one in the USA, but the last time I
checked, it was gone.

Still waiting for version 1.5.

I have not seen the USA Mirror for a long time...
