Hello. Can anyone help? I installed Spybot this week and a scan has revealed
the following:

Problem: Microsoft
Kind: 1 entry
[SB1 $9FD0 Registry value (shows a fragmented cube)

AND IN THE 'INFORMATION' COLUMN

Company:
Product: Microsoft.Windows.AppFirewallBypass
Threat: Security
Description
This is beeing (sic) flagged whenever an application is configured to accept
incoming connections through the Windows Firewall. Most applications do not
need to accept incoming connections like servers do.

It identifies it as a security threat, but is it? Should I remove this?

Thank you.

I did the same thing this week and had the same thing come up, dont really
know what it was so didnt want to delete it.......i ended up removing spybot
Search & Destroy, i think adaware or avg is better, just my opinion tho

It is simply a warning, by design. Just instruct Spybot S&D to ignore it.
Visit their forums/kb to understand more about it.
No sense in removing the program.

Thank you both for responding. I sensed it was a legitimate action by
Microsoft, hence my reluctance to remove it. I'll do as you suggest Mr
Willetts. Thank you again.

AVG spyware (formerly ewido) isn't free so that's not in the same class, I
find Spybot a better product than Ad-aware, IMHO.

AVG 7.5 is free. I have it running on my machine always.

After the trial period of the full version of AVG Anti-spyware expires, a
minimal version remains enabled which lets you scan using the latest
definitions. I run a full scan once a week after updating the definitions.
In this sense the AVG Anti-spyware does have a free version available.

AVG 7.5 is an AV program, the thread is discussing AVG Anti-spyware (also
not to be confused with AVG Anti-rootkit) . I am also a very satisfied user
of AVG antivirus and have used it since April 2005 .

I stand corrected, sort of

The A/V is. Read the rest of the threads, we're discussing spyware cleaners.
