Yes, Robin, I've tried it...seems a little slower on the "immunize"
function, but all went smoothly on my WIN 2K box...there are slight
differences on several of the interface screens, but mostly the same. Am not
sure what changes/improvements there are other than the interfaces.
ok i took the plunge on vista and it installed just fine.
funny I still cannot get adaware 2007 to install on my vista
i am in the middle of running a scan now and see what happens.
Also if you want yo can actually keep spybot 1.4 if you have no problems
with it on xp
Spybot search and destroy is still supporting it
robin
ok all is well with it on vista
in fact i am not seeing any spikes in cpu usage when it runs
I installed it on 2 xp computers and see cpu usage when it runs go up to
%100 percent.
On 2 other xp machines where i am running the 1.4 version there is no spike
up at all. When it is doing its scan it is around 40% tops.

After I installed SpyBot S&D 1.5 this morning, my WinPatrol notified me that
my Hosts file was attempting to be changed by S&D.
When I looked at the proposed changes it seems that all those "bad" sites
were going to be redirected (or whatever the entries in the HOSTS file do)
to 127.0.0.1.
Is this a change from SpyBot S&D 1.4? I know that version never tried
adding anything to my HOSTS.
Yes, this is new in 1.5. If you want to disable SS&D updating your
hosts file, go to Immunize, Undo, uncheck the last entry on the page
(Windows - Global(Hosts)), then immunize again.
P.S. this can take a very long time. I don't know if simply unchecking
'Global (Hosts)' will do the same thing.
Thanks for the information about the Hosts file. As it turns out, I did NOT
allow my Hosts file to be changed when I received the warning from WinPatrol
yesterday. So there was really nothing to undo.
However, I just did uncheck the Windows Global Hosts box and re-immunized
anyway.
Right now my numbers are: Protected -- 59357; Unprotected -- 6351; and
Total -- 65888.
