Ian, how did you find this? I don't see www.oranges.ru listed in any
of the spybot mirror sites.

I'd be very wary of downloading spybot from a site that isn't linked to,
from http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=mirrors

All of the listed mirrors I've checked still have spybotsd12.exe

Running a google search on spybotsd13.exe makes it look like
it's currently still in beta testing, and not intended for general
release.

Excellent advice, Dave. Did you follow it? :)

I'm just ornery and curious enough to to give it a shot, which I did.
It's 1.3 Beta 6. Seems ok on my PC. The only stuff it found is a bunch
of tracking cookies, which is no surprise since I don't bother to
supress cookies in any way.

I'm running linux pretty much full time now. It's been a couple of weeks
since I last booted windows.

I expected it to be a legit beta, based on the google search, but wouldn't
advise anyone who didn't know that it's a beta, or what that entails, to
use it. I haven't downloaded it. Kind of hard to run under ASPLinux,
Slackware, or Mandrake.

From what I am hearing from the spyware gurus, this is STILL a beta
version.....so not about to mess with that.

Why not Heather.... it may be a beta... but at least if you do run into
something, you'll get credited for the find... (I'm just joking here)...
:D:D:D:D

I can understand what you are saying :D:D:D

Cute, grin. If I 'ran into something', I probably wouldn't realize
it......or know what to do with it. (G)

FWIW I downloaded and ran it without any trouble. The number of checks is
now up to 1302

(Windows XP Home)

up to 1302???? not sure what you mean.... but I ran it and it was searching
for 15000+ items..... found 4, which were promptly removed :D:D:D

Sorry I mistyped - mine said 13102, not 1302. I think it was 11000+ before
this version, and I don't know why you had some 2000 more items than I did.
Anyhow the green check next to the "Congratulations!" looks wider and bolder
too :-)

Hehehe... I was actually surprised... it found 4 items that I never knew
existed... good job to the author :D:D:D

Ma No and many many others, please: there is no necessity always for
full quotings! Please think about space, traffic and bandwidth. THX.

Is prior removal of version 1.1 necessary before installation?
Dick
I believe so. I asked on the MS news groups and was advised to not download
this as it is still a beta version, but that every install of a new version
shows up in Add/Remove.....so to remove version 1.1.

I`m usually with you on betas but the last Spybot beta was recommended and worked fine
so maybe I`ll give this one a chance.
