Hi David;
Though I did bug one minor item in 4.5 allready, I'd like to hear you expand
further on your comment. Overall, I'm very impressed. :)

Install Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Version. Then install the
old SpySweeper. It works OK. Then update to 4.5 and turn on all options.
I had email accounts on some ISPs that would never work. The system
shutdown time went from a minute or so to 5 minutes. Uninstalled 4.5 and
everything works fine.

OK thanks, I have NIS/2005, but not using it yet still at 2004 w/o A-S. Due to
your reply, I now have something to watch for, and I appreciate your getting
back with this info. Sometimes we've seen A-S programs with real time
protections conflict, and I'd imagine that's what you're running into. I
haven't seen any conflict between SS4.5 and MSAS Beta1 yet, though both have
some degree of RTP so I sometimes get multiple alerts.

My experience:

The first series of Spy Sweeper 4.0.X will freeze your Windows occassionally
if you have turned on the Favorites shield and if you have got so many
favorites entries in your favorite folder. Their technical support and
development team has confirmed this problem. I don't have time to try 4.5
yet, but I hope this issue will be corrected in this 4.5 version.

By the way I see SpySweeper is now up to 4.5.3 (Build 560) silently updated
three times...

Regards, Dave

there's some issue with SS. Look at the taskmanager, processes tab after
scanning your computer. all the processes mem usage get larger. never seen
this happen to using other antispyware utilities.

I think your probably right, though according to the people "in the know" over
on CastleCops if you need resources back 4.5 will very easily give it up, and
that might apply to memory as well, dunno... I'll take a look next scan, Thanks.
I do believe they resolved the definition auto-update issues we've seen. I've
got about 3 minor issues open with support... The latest was wierd, the hosts
file update has 127.0.0.1 new ad site #SpySweeperCASS (not new.ad.site) I can't
imagine that's right. Did you see how MSAS reported it? new @ .0.1 added to
hosts file. Thought I had some malware going. ;) They still use locked temp to
store "shields" etc... Talk about non-standard coding. Drives people crazy when
CCleaner can't free it.... heehee
