it's buggy, how do you update the definition i had 564 for a very long time,
i think about 5-6 days now and they say it updates it's definition daily.
automatic definition updates does not even work. mem usage spike up still
occurs after scaning computer.

Hi balem;
You're right SS 4.5.5 is having a major case of problems right now including one
of their servers being offline, coping with false positives since their last
definition update to 564, and in my experience bad Hosts file additions.
Webroot's recommendation for dealing with any problems contacting the servers
for updates is:

1- Close Spy Sweeper. Run 'IPConfig /flushdns'. Try again. (Preferred method)

2- From Home Screen. [ctrl]+[alt]+double click on SS icon to open hidden
buttons. Click on 'Download full definitions'. (This method should work, but it
will not fix the problem for auto def checks. Please use the flushDNS command if
possible)

However, even doing the manual full definition downloads you'll still just get
564... at least for the moment. ;)

wow didn't even know that there's a hidden buttons on that icon. if i use the
flushDNS will it fix the automatic update?

If your getting a red warning message that you can't connect to the Webroot DNS
server. Their NY server is the down machine, I'm in San Francisco, where
there's another server but was still getting them before issuing the flush,
maybe due to overloaded conditions on the remaining 2 servers. But, as I said
there's no 565 update yet, it just might help you get rid of a connection
problem, though not eliminate it, since I still get the occasional warning. I'm
sure those guys are going nuts. Isn't it nice to have MSAS as a backup?
