Dear all,

In our organization we are using two 2000 server.

Just to check my server secruity I installed and run GFI
languard network security scanner .
I could not belive it that it showed my all the shared
folders ,domain name ,number of users with names and the
users logged on the server and many more.

How to hide and prevent the port scanner to get all these
information without installing the firewall.

Pleaseeeeeeeeeee helppppppp

Tks.

There really isn't a good solution, do you have a better one? If so, please
pass it around. We would enabled tcpip filtering on each nic of every
system to deny the unneeded ports, but then you run into a situation where
you are dealing with routable ip addresses so then you still can be a
target.

You've spent some good money on servers, so why on earth would your network
not have a good firewall? You need one, there is no way around it. You are
compromising your network's security until you fix this.

See www.sonicwall.com for a decent line that isn't too expensive.
