Spurious modem in Device Manager

I noticed a spurious modem entry in Device Manager and a number of DUN
entries that, judging by their name, are associated with the device.

I disabled the device but still get numerous DUN files appearing, all with
similar names.

I have run pandascan, f-prot and others and nothing is found.

There is nothing I can see in the run/runonce/runservice etc registry
entries.

I have XP and have all the patches on.

Any suggestions as to what this is, where it hides, and how to get rid of
it.

I wonder if it may be a dialer? You might check in:
*C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files* (these are active-x controls)
to see if there is anything unusual. You can check the entries by
right-clicking the name. Then click Properties. By looking at Version info
and/or Dependencies you can usually figure out if the item is associated
with a valid program or function. If you find one that is obviously bad,
you can remove it by selecting Remove from the above right-click menu.

I suspected a dialer, but didn't think about looking there, I will check.
