How can I install a spreadsheet for personal use?

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase the spreadsheet application (or productivity suite) of your
choice.

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional
features.

For the budget-minded (who also don't need all of Excel's more
advanced features), there's the free, open source OpenOffice:

I think you'll find that the current version (2.02) does almost all things
that Excel does...........and as most users only use 25% of the
functionality of any productivity suite the ommissions are irrelevant.......

Actually, I thought it was more like 5% for most users.

While I am all for the fact that most users of computers are just that -
users of the system just like they are users of any other tool - only
knowing enough to get what they need out of said tool... It's the relative
use of percentages that has me fascinated on this one.

Not going to say that I have never used such a statement - especially amongs
my colleagues in a given location when it comes to the end users of
computers.. But I thought I would ask and see if this particular stat came
from some larger study than cursory identification of lack of user skills on
computers. heh

BUT you would not use such a tool on a carpet tack or finishing nail :-)
