I have a couple of password protected spreadsheets that I have
hyperlinked on my site. I have no problems opening or saving them.
Others have reported issues when trying to open the file instead of
saving locally.
These include:
Error message saying the file is locked by "user" for editing.
Another asks for username and password for site and realm.

I have never had these issues.

Anyone have a clue?

It is not clear if your setup as an Intranet or public access website.
It does sound like your using the "office components" portion of office to
public excel websites.
Try creating a "test" userid that has ordinary access. Your regular
developer userid most likely has full administrator privileges.

Hope this helps,
Tom

I'm using the public web and thought I was saving a plain excel file.
Not sure I understand the "office components" portion of office to
public excel websites.

Users w/ Office 2000 w/o the latest service packs will get the credentials error (username and password)
Since the spreadsheet is protected all users should get a request for the password
