I've got a computer that as soon as you start it the
SPOOLSV process keeps grabbing memory. It will keep
climbing until the system runs out of memory. I've seen
it as high as 164K! Now if I stop and restart the print
spooler in 'services' it seems to be OK and does not
start climbing again. Anyone know what is causing this??

Thanks

I've got a similar problem. Instead of grabbing memory,
the SPOOLSV comsume over 60% processing time once the
computer had started & keeping at that level or even
above. However, whenever I disconnected the network cable
it will instantly drop to 0% & OK. What is the cause? I'm
running w2k at sp2.

I asked the same question a week ago - no responses.

Upgrade to SP4 - The spoolsv file has been fixed in SP3. This is a
Microsoft known issue.

Do you have XP cleints prior to SP1? See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321364&Product=winxp

When the server is experiencing the problem, do a " net files" as suggested
in 311364. Do a "net sess |Find "00:00:00" from the command line, repeat
several times...are there any workstation sessions that NEVER seem to have
any "idle time"? Try stopping the print spooler service on that workstation
and see if CPU goes down. If you have or if you can get netmon installed on
the server, run a capture and look at the traffic going between the server
and workstations with no idle time.
