spoolsv.exe memory leak

If I turn on my printer my spoolsv.exe file memory usage expands until I run out of virtual memory. I have also noticed that if I expand my printers folder it causes the spoolsv.exe file to grow as well. If I restart the printer spool service the spoolsv.exe will go back to normal as long as my printer is turned off. Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this? I ran the latest Norton virus scan and spybot but came back with nothing.

Thanks in advance for any help,
clendeni

Leaking print drivers are the main thing to impact spooler memory

Can you provide a list of drivers and version numbers?

The Printers Folder UI runs within the explorer.exe process so making the
window bigger should have 0 effect upon spoolsv.exe.

I am having a similar problem. I am running server 2003 as a print sevrer
hosting about 2 printers (Hp 4050, 800, 5s1/ and a few canon imageRunners).
My spoolsv.exe takes 100 percent of the systems resources.

Canon released some updated drivers for 2003, but they dont seem to help the
problem.

I currently have 21 printers set up on my PC. All of them are network printers and this is the only pc in our network having this problem. Most of the printers are HP with a few Xerox mixed in. Here is a partial list of the printers since not all of the details loaded before spoolsv locked up my PC.
HP LJ 4100n (3 printers)
HP business Jet 2280 (2 printers)
HP 1200n (3 printers)
HP 2250tn (1 printer)
HP 4550n (1 printer)
Xerox 460ST (1 printer)
Xerox 432ST (4 printers)
6 that didnt load descriptions.

Hope this helps. Thanks again,
clendeni

you can run prndrvr.vbs in system32 (on Server 2003) to get a list from
command line. No UI necessary.

Run with the drivers shipped on the Server 2003 CD for the HP LJ 4100, HP LJ
1200,HP ColorLJ 4550, Xerox 460, Xerox 432 in an attempt to isolate the
issue.

I'll ask the HP and Xerox testers here if there are any known leaks on these
device drivers.

Wade made a comment that he is using Server 2003. Clendeni are you running
Win2k or Server 2003?

I'm running 2000 pro. I'll try backing down drivers to win defaults.

Are these 21 shared printers on Pro or is the Pro machine connecting to a
